WHAT’S INSIDE THE MAY/JUNE ISSUE

30 April 2024

Take a look at the featured highlights from Issue 308!

THE COVER STAR! – 1998 NISSAN SKYLINE R34 GT-T

When you’ve already got an R34 GT-R in the garage that’s too good to touch, the only option is to build one that’s even better

“Man it was funny how people didn’t have faith in this project at the start” laughs the owner of this Skyline Sameer Kumar. Of course as the owner of Forged Developments, a Wellington based business that spends its days pumping out high performance builds, it was just another day in the office.

TOTAL BUZZKILL! – 1992 MAZDA RX7 (FD3S)

With an ex-D1NZ driver at the helm, an insane Green Brothers 20B powerplant and a trick suspension and diff combo, this RX-7 is ready to spoil the party, one award at a time!

Taupo’s Rene Richmond wasn’t after that bedroom wall fame, but he did want an engine package that was going to give him the power and sound he was craving — a 20B PP that had the ability to chop gears like a cut cat with a sequential gearbox.

JUST JAMMIN  – MANFEILD COMES ALIVE FOR THE ANNUAL JAMBOREE

Two days of celebrating automotive culture with a distinct central North Island flavour is probably the best way to sum up the Jamboree – presented by Downtime Entertainment, which was held on March 2nd and 3rd at the Manfeild circuit and show hall in Feilding.

CREAMY, DREAMY, DOORTY – 1984 TOYOTA SPRINTER TRUENO (AE85)

Sometimes it pays not to stay in one lane when you’re into cars. For Christchurch’s Brent Howey, a change in tack from boosted high-power Nissans to the diminutive Toyota AE-chassis opened up a new scope on car culture, and it’s people.

At first glance, the Trueno exhibits a heavy leaning towards the ‘JDM’ side of the styling spectrum, owing to Brent’s selection of authentic bits and pieces from the motherland. But his journey began, probably the moment he became a twinkle in his old man’s eye, with hardware arguably from the opposite end of the car culture game.

SPINNING SUCCESS – REUNION 10TH ANNIVERSARY
Reunions’ 10th anniversary, a milestone with a record number of on track rotary powered vehicles

Fast forward to 2024 and enthusiasts gathered for a milestone celebration with the event celebrating its 10th year and man was it a good one! With a full carpark, pits and stands throw in abit of Mad Mike Whiddett, the Mukka Motorsport team and their 6-Rotor RX-7, Azhar and the Pac Performance team plus just under 400 roaring rotors from across NZ, it had all the makings for a massive weekend of automotive ecstasy.

INTENSE TWINNING – STEVE KERR’S SILVIA DUO

If one badass Silvia is good, then two must be even better… At least that’s Steve Kerr’s logic!
While many of us can look back at our automotive past, recognising points in time when we had the wrong car, Wellington’s Steve Kerr is one of the lucky few who takes a different view.
