It takes some bravery to overhaul an event with nearly 30 years of history — one that’s entrenched in the minds of multiple generations of car enthusiasts. But that kind of ‘hold my beverage’ thinking has become a hallmark of Downtime Entertainment.
Proudly local with strong Waikato roots, promoters Alan and Pare Togia made the bold call to relocate what was the 4 & Rotary Nationals to Hamilton.
In its final years in Auckland, the show had been struggling for both numbers and quality, and when Downtime Entertainment took ownership, the decision was made to give it a fresh start in a new home. They have since been building towards something bigger. REVCON is the culmination of that vision, bringing their stable of show events under one roof, and as we went to press, the event had been confirmed at the venue for multiple years to come.
With over 100 lowriders and 50-plus Vicla motorcycles mixing with traditional attendee import show cars, Hamilton’s Claudelands Event Centre came alive with a combination of sights and sounds never before seen or heard in one place, and that was before the big rigs and 4WDs rolled into the outdoor area. The ultimate all-you-can-eat for the auto enthusiast.
