We check out Sean Clark's aired-out Porsche 964, infused with a Miami Vice flair.

NZPC: Hey Sean, welcome back. We featured your bagged 1UZ-powered E30 back in issue 239! What made you decide to part ways with it, and where is it now?

Yeah the E30 was a pretty cool car, had an enjoyable 9 years with it and was my first car. Modified it from head to toe, met a bunch of good mates through it and even picked up a few awards along the way. I believe the E30 is currently in Wellington. Ultimately I got tired of the Toyota reliability and wanted the true Euro experience, so I opted for an air-cooled Porsche instead. What better way to live out the white gold snorting 80’s yuppie fantasy than a classic 911.

Your 964 is likely the only bagged example in the country. How challenging was it to find the air suspension setup for it?
Not as hard as you’d think! AirLift Performance make a bolt-on kit for the 964, as they’re quite commonly bagged overseas so that saved the hassle of having to do anything custom.

The 964 was originally red, what made you switch up the colour?
The red (Guards red) is a cool colour, but there are a bunch of bagged red ones overseas and I didn’t want to be one of the copy-paste specials. I’m a sucker for that whole 80’s Miami Vice style, which is why the Miami Blue made perfect sense.

You must get a lot of attention in the Porsche community. What is your experience with other enthusiasts?
It’s a bit of a mixed bag really. Anything from supportive compliments to “BLASPHEMY! YOU RUINED A SPORTS CAR!”. The look of horror on their faces always gets me rock hard.

Those BBS wheels are insane! Tell us more about them and how you got your hands on them I bought the wheel faces off Facebook marketplace, got lips & barrels made by WheelFlip in the States, got the faces & lips triple-chrome plated and finally the hex caps & bolts are 24-karat gold plated for that extra bling bling.

How does the 964 handle on the road with the airbag setup? Let’s just say it drove a lot nicer when it was in stock form. But I’ll always sacrifice a bit of comfort for the eternal validation of Instagram likes and follows.

What’s your favourite part of the car? My favourite part of my car would have to be pissing off boomers that would rather watch their ‘classic’ Porsche metal rust to death in their garages than actually do cool or unique with their cars.

If you could go back in time and do one thing on the car over again, what would it be?
I’d probably go back in time to 1987, Miami Beach, cruising along Ocean Drive with my girl and a bag of Colombian get-up powder.

Do you have any future plans for the car?

Next on the list is definitely pink fluffy interior to complete the whole Miami Vice theme.

If you had unlimited funds, what would you build?
Thankfully due to the constant donations from the generous Bet365, I do actually have unlimited funds. My dream build (other than this) would have to be a bagged Ferrari Testarossa in Florida snow white.

Cheers for the yarn Sean!
