WHAT’S IN THE LATEST NZPC ISSUE! – SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

25 August 2025

Take a look at the featured highlights from Issue 316!

THE COVER STAR! – SHOW AND STREET EVO PERFECTION

Some builds take years, others take decades. This one’s the result of a 20-year pursuit of perfection — Sanil’s vision of the ultimate show and street-driven Mitsubishi Evolution

With multiple awards to its name, there is absolutely no question that RIP U AL sits among the top echelon of all-arounder Evos in NZ. From the streets to the events, to getting a meal with the family, this labour of love may truly be the perfect Evolution.

RETURN OF THE KING – BOOSTED K-SWAPPED CRX

After nearly a decade away from the tools and out of the scene, Van Nguyen scratched the itch the only way he knew how, with a garage-built, boosted K-swapped CRX that marks the ultimate comeback!

K-swaps are everywhere these days. Civics, Integras, hell, we even featured a Prelude and a BMW E30 not long ago. But a boosted K-swapped CRX? Now that’s something you don’t see every day.

THE ESSENCE OF SPIRIT  – BAGGED SPIRIT REI MIYABI S13

Elegance. Refinement. Courtliness. Probably not quite what you’d think of when you imagine your standard S13 Silvia — well, that is until you’ve seen this one. A perfect example of those three words, intricately pieced together by Elise Macfarlane and helped along by a long list of local legends in the NZ and international car scene

Built not for clout or clichés, but for the sheer love of the platform, Elise’s Silvia is a jet-black, RB25-powered, Spirit Rei widebody street car dripping in JDM heritage and New Zealand ingenuity. And while it might’ve taken just under a year to piece together, the reality is this build was a decade in the making.

BIG BODY BOOSTING – BN SPORTS WIDEBODY JZX90 MARK II

After seven years of ownership, a simple turbo upgrade accidentally snowballed this previously untouched JZX90 Mark II into a stunning big body beast

Luke originally bought this Mark II because he wanted something a bit different to what everybody else had at the time. Luckily for him, X90s are still rather uncommon, but what he’s done to it now has put it at a level that you’ll very rarely see for this chassis. It’s super tidy, it oozes big body coolness, and it’s got the performance to back that up. Now all that’s left to do is enjoy the hell out of it.

STREET LEGAL – R32 STREET SWEEPER

Period-correct and slammed, Glen Deo’s R32 is a 2000s-inspired drift dream made street-legal

BLAST FROM THE PAST – DAM LO IS BACK!

This Navara brought mini trucks to new heights in the early 2000s, and it’s still dragging along the ground two decades later!

What set the Navara apart from the rest — even for the long period it was wearing a coat of matte black — was the body drop. Performed in the shed at home in East Auckland, the body drop was arguably the first of its kind, one which saw the pinchrails on the cab sit firmly on the floor.

STILL PUNCHING
– SUBARU WRX TS SPEC B FIRST LOOK

Subaru’s latest WRX tS Spec B is a back-to-basics performance sedan with all the right ingredients — we took it for a spin to see if it still lives up to the badge

The WRX tS Spec B lands for 2025 as a limited-run, enthusiast-spec model — with a badge that nods to its STi roots, staying true to the classic WRX recipe: flat-four, turbo, all-wheel drive, and a face that looks happiest caked in gravel and dirt. While the STi was retired at the end of the previous generation, the tS Spec B is introduced as a new grade and the second coming.

CRUISE MODE – LS1-TURBO FD3S RX-7

Not your typical FD RX-7 — this one packs a boosted LS1 and five years of dedication

NO GRIP, NO QUIT – STREET FIGHTERS 2025

The forecast called for carnage, and that’s exactly what went down. Taupō Motorsport Park felt more like a water park as Round 8 of Choice Events’ Street Fighters unfolded

FOR THE HOMIES – CHROME HORSEPOWER FESTIVAL 2025

One of the most anticipated events of the year is back at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park for three days of pure mayhem — the Prowear Chrome Horsepower Festival, brought to you by the Premier Events crew.

AND MUCH MORE!
