25 September 2016

The November issue of NZ Performance Car (Issue No. 239) has landed at a store near you. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s behind this issue’s cover:

On the cover we have Tony’s amazing, and, might I add, super-rare Mazda GTAE. It’s one of only two in New Zealand, and one of 300 worldwide. Although, thankfully, Tony didn’t have any qualms about modifying such a rare machine. Like always, we take hundreds of photos and not all of them get past the cutting room floor, so we put together a GIF of some of our favourite details to give you guys a little taste.

We recently took a trip to Phillip Island Raceway in Melbourne to trash-test the new 2017 GT-R — both on the track and on the road. While I give my thoughts on the car in the mag, I also spent some time with Nissan Motorsport as they shook down the Nismo R35 GT3 for some upcoming events. If you don’t already know which events, hear the news from driver Matt Simmons himself — it’s pretty exciting to say the least.

Those who follow editor Marcus on Instagram will know that he spends the majority of his time in the shed building cars, so when Milwaukee offered him their new 9.0Ah batteries and M18 Fuel tools to try out, he jumped at the chance. While in the magazine he goes into details about the tools themselves, on The Motorhood it’s all about the project at hand, his E36 race car.

Being able to drift on the street and not be arrested is a rare occurrence here in New Zealand, but earlier this month Churbisu hit the back streets of Hamilton in a 100-per-cent legal and sanctioned event. Super chilled and with great vibes, here is a little video teaser as a prelude to our coverage in the mag.

We celebrate 25 years of the Subaru WRX. Man, 25 years — that makes me feel old. I can still vividly remember the first time I rode in a WRX in ’94. That feeling of being pushed back into the seat will be with me forever. You can check out my favourite all-time WRX here.
