“Now that the 2016 V 4&Rotary South Island Champs entries are open for the December 10–11 event, we thought we’d take a look back at last year’s standouts”
Upon arriving at the 2015 V 4&Rotary South Island Champs, we weren’t quite sure what we’d be in for come show time. So when we got to the show hall, it was great to see Brad Hinton’s 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T break cover. It was originally built by Vick Bhatti in 2005, before going through a few owners. Brad told us that, unfortunately, it was in a sad state when he purchased it.
Brad didn’t muck around with this project, and in no time at all, he had upgraded to an R34 GT-R front end, along with a complete panel and paint in Bayside Blue. The huge Work Meisters remain in a mouth-watering 18×13 inches at the rear, making use of the ginormous widebody kit.
The RB25DET now produces an impressive 313kW (420hp) at the wheels on 95-octane fuel, and 380kW (510hp) on 98-octane fuel, meaning this show car now has the matching bite to its loud bark.
Cars modified to this extent leave you in awe. The wide stance has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. We hope Brad makes it along to the 2016 South Island Champs!
