Prowear NZ Superlap Series Spotlight: the LSM Evo that won the series

27 May 2016

Leon Scott of LSM Motorsport managed to win the 2016 Prowear NZ Superlap Series outright, so here’s a closer look at his Mitsubishi Evo from Issue 231!

Leon Scott has contested Superlap here in New Zealand since its infancy, so there’s no denying he has got a few laps under his belt, and it shows. His Mitsubishi Evo has been under development since those early days, and it’s gone through many variations. Leon has the Evo humming along nicely in its current guise, with enough power when required, but more importantly, it’s reliable.

With over 500kW on tap the Evo has the grunt to do well in Pro Open, and with the newly installed aero package pinched from Scott Kreyl’s Evo, it’s sure to get quicker and quicker.

Leon has been toying with different tyre combinations lately, and has felt at home on the current Hankook TD Z221 semi-slick. Depending on weather conditions, he can either switch to the 265/35R18 set, or the 295/35R18s. As he’s a huge fan of the international time-attack scene, you won’t ever catch Leon running on a full slick tyre, which will put him at an advantage come next year when they’re banned, as the car is well dialled with semi slicks already.
