Prowear NZ Superlap competitors were given the chance to flex their guns last weekend at the recent V 4&Rotary Nationals show and shine. Some flinched at the idea, but some had cars pretty enough to look at, so in the hall they came.
Leon Scott brought down his 500kW-plus Mitsubishi Evo, which is in the current issue of NZ Performance Car, to appear in the NZ Superlap Spotlight section. It’s a clean machine, and has been in competition for around 12 years now.
Jason Shortt, who will be featured in the next issue of NZ Performance Car, brought down his angry 270kW Pro Open Subaru WRX Version 8. Although down on power compared to the other pros, Jason makes up for it with huge aero and large slicks. For a closer look at the WRX in the meantime, click here.
The Jtune Engineering Honda Accord CL7 owned by Jason Hsu is a serious piece of equipment that gets driven by ‘Racing Ray’ Williams from time to time. Not to be mistaken for an NA engine, this Accord is packing a K24 engine and a supercharger kit, pushing power up to around 240kW at the wheels.
Impressively enough, Brad Jesson was able to get his car ready for the show and shine. We say impressive, because he has only contested one round of NZ Superlap in anger this season, due to mechanical issues. Once repaired and running properly, this Evo will be a force to be reckoned with.
Khan MacKesy’s Mazda3 MPS is a serious wolf in sheep’s clothing that packs 270kW at the front wheels. These Mazdas never fail to impress us with their overall handling and power capabilities. We think the Mazda RX-8 wheels shod in semi-slick rubber are a cool touch too!
Ex cover car, of Issue No. 226, Emil Roshan’s GT-R R34 has continued to up the ante all season. The more laps Emil gets under his belt, the quicker he goes in the 420kW-plus GT-R. We met Emil at the last V 4&Rotary Nationals, so it was good to see him showing off the battle-hardened GT-R once more. To see more, click here.
