Have you picked up your copy of NZ Performance Car Issue No. 224 yet?

15 July 2015

Just like the drummer in a band, the engineering team behind a race car, or those volunteers who do all the leg work while the front man swoops in for the credit, the B-side features of NZ Performance Car don’t often get a mention when I put together my monthly post letting you all know what’s in the new issue. So this time around, forget the feature cars for a moment — we are celebrating the B-sides, the unsung heroes, all those pieces that without them the magazine would be nothing.

News

Keeping our ear to the ground, the news section is the place to get the in-depth knowledge on anything interesting that is happening within the scene. Whether it be a new exciting car, someone’s crazy race car, or an event that’s going to be too good to miss. If it’s worth knowing then we will have it in there.

Wheel guide

One thing that all readers of NZ Performance Car have in common, no matter what you drive, is the love for wheels. One of the most important decisions you will make during your build, and one of the easiest ways to drastically change the look of your ride. Been thinking about upgrading? We have all the best offerings from New Zealand suppliers in 2015.

Thailand’s thriving scene

When you think of Thailand, the first thing that pops into your head is very unlikely to be the thriving car scene, and more likely some tropic beach vista. But there is a booming scene in Thailand with a taste for very modern machines, and the term sleeper is no where to be seen. Or perhaps it’s eight-second diesel utes that tickle your fancy; either way you will find something to your taste in this interview with local photographer Kittitouch Katemanee.

Tuning Japanese

Our man in Japan, Aaron Mai, month after month churns out some top-quality features on everything the land of Japan has to offer. This month he checks out a genuine 1998 Colin McRae WRC Imprezza in tarmac spec; a rare machine to find in un-crashed condition.

Interview with ATJ

If you’re a fan of drifting then you will have undoubtedly seen a pair of orange-and-black Slivias piloted by Tom and Joe Marshall tearing up a local circuit. I sat down with the Far North–based lads to talk about all things drift and their plans for the coming D1NZ season.

Pedey Files

Although he may have left the building over a year ago, Pedey has now taken to travelling the world and experiencing as many car cultures as he can.  Almost like a monthly travel blog, we get to tag along and see a taste of what the rest of the world is up to in their sheds.

Two-page bangers

Our local scene is filled with so many great builds that we need to share with you all, we went and added in two new features to the magazine: Cruise Mode and Weekend Warrior. The names explain what each two-pager is for — if not, the images will. This month we have two very different machines both owned and built by ladies. That’s right guys, you don’t get to have all the glory.

Under construction

Last but not least is an old staple in NZ Performance Car — Under Construction provides a look into projects happening in sheds all across New Zealand. In this is issue we take a look at Speed Science’s two drag and street projects, an ex-staffer’s FC RX-7, and a Rocket Bunny–style EX Lancer with over 400kW (no, that’s not a typo).
