The reason it hit with a bang was ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett’s long-awaited RADBUL MX-5, which was finally unveiled to the world as the car itself winged its away over the Pacific Ocean ahead of round two of Formula Drift USA.
Before the MX-5 left, we stripped it bare in Mike’s shop to showcase all the details that makes the twin-turbo 26B kill Nittos at a great rate. Just before taking overall victory at Repco Race To The Sky, we visited Possum Bourne Motorsport to take a look at the rebuilt Vantage Aluminium WRC Impreza. The legendary ex-Possum Bourne hill-climb machine has been rebuilt with a few modern improvements, but in keeping with the 2000 spec when Possum first built it from a crashed WRC Impreza into a Race to the Sky champion. With Alister McRae behind the wheel, the car was able to repeat the feat in 2015, so check out what it takes to win the world’s best gravel hill-climb.
It’s not often that you will see a VL Commodore in NZPC, but when it’s built to the level of quality, and rocking a single-cam RB30 like Jay Singh’s is, we couldn’t think of a better place to showcase this RB muscle car. You won’t believe how nice the engine bay in this Commy actually is.
