Get the rundown on round three of the Prowear NZ Superlap Series

Heading back to where time attack all started in New Zealand, the Taupo Short Track was the spot to be for round three of the Prowear NZ Superlap Series. The Replay XD NZ- and NZ Performance Car-supported event was held on the weekend of February 28–March 1

Pro Open saw Scott Kreyl pilot his way to the front of the pack in the Team RevolutioNZ’s Hell Racing Evo with a comfortable time of 1:10.920, which was also the fastest time of the day. The battle for second and third was a close one with Hans Ruiterman coming out on top in the E&H Motors’ Silvia with a time of 1:13.009, closely followed by Daniel Currie in his series debut with a time of 1:13.162 in the Garden City Helicopters’ WRX.

Leon Scott unfortunately suffered minor engine problems in the Hyper Tyres / ST Hitec Evo, but still managed to secure fourth place with a time of 1:16.922. Rounding up the pack was Chris Parker in the Rips Racing / ECCE Skyline with a time of 1:17.613, closely followed by Craig Benton in his Richmond Barr Electrical WRX with a time of 1:18.191.

Pro Street also saw some fast times around the track. Karl Patterson had the fourth fastest time overall, and took out the class with a time of 1:16.292 in his Team RevolutioNZ / Shaft Automotive Evo. Kat Benson was close behind, after suffering engine problems throughout the day, and ended up with a time of 1:19.426 in the Burgerfuel Evo.

Street class saw Colin Abah take out first in the JTune Honda S2000. After a few transponder issues, he ended up with a time of 1:18.375. Morris Mustchin (also in his series debut) got his Subaru V7 around the track in a time of 1:27.549. Rounding up Street class was Kaz Kostiuk-Warren, who only managed to get out for one session in his BMW 325i, with a time of 1:40.412. Shamil Arachchie could only make Saturday so came in at fourth place with a time of 2:15.133 on the long track.

The next round is coming up soon at Manfeild Raceway on March 22, 2015. This round will be part of the 2015 V 4&Rotary Jamboree. It’s set to be a huge event so get your entries in now over at nzsuperlap.co.nz!
