26B power on street rubber

26 October 2015

What happens when Brent Curran from Curran Brothers Racing (CBR) supplies an iconic Australian Mazda RX-3 with a 26B PP quad rotor?

The result is one badass street car capable of reaching 198kph during the World Time Attack Challenge’s Flying 500 competition, with all kinds of sideways tyre-frying action. Putting down that much power on such skinny street tyres was never going to be easy, but they did run the car at the Brisbane Jamboree a few weeks earlier with sticky tyres, and the result was a best run of 10.6@133mph. Not bad for the first time out, with an engine combo put in during a two-week lead-up to the event. A warning for the second video, the audio could not handle 10,000rpm.
